Experimental heart preservation for 24 hours: benefits of PGE1 in a nonpulsatile coronary perfusion solution.

چکیده
Adult mongrel dogs weighing between 19 and 28 kg were anesthesized with phentobarbital (30 mg/kg IV). A right thoracotomy incision was made. The aorta was clamped and 250 mL of standard cardioplegic solution was administered. The heart was extracted, sectioning the aorta, pulmonary artery, vena cavas, and pulmonary veins at the level of its pericardial reflection. Once the heart was removed, it was connected to the NPCP.

Hypothermic Machine Perfusion Preservation of the DCD Kidney: Machine Effects
Purpose. Kidneys from DCD donors represent a significant pool, but preservation problems exist. The study objective was to test the importance of machine type for hypothermic preservation of DCD kidneys. Methods. Adult Beagle dog kidneys underwent 45 minutes of warm in situ ischemia followed by hypothermic perfusion for 24 hours (Belzer-MPS Solution) on either an ORS LifePort or a Waters RM3 us...
متن کاملLow-flow perfusion of guinea pig isolated hearts with 26 degrees C air-saturated Lifor solution for 20 hours preserves function and metabolism.
BACKGROUND Donor human hearts cannot be preserved for >5 hours between explantation and recipient implantation. A better approach is needed to preserve transplantable hearts for longer periods, ideally at ambient conditions for transport. We tested whether Lifor solution could satisfactorily preserve guinea pig isolated hearts perfused at low flow with no added oxygen at room temperature for 20...
متن کاملCorrelation of myocardial Tc 99m-MIBI perfusion SPECT with coronary angiography in Namazi Hospital/Shiraz/Iran [Persian]
Coronary heart disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death specially among elderly. Coronary angiography is the best diagnostic method in the patients, but is unfortunately an invasive procedure with its inherent risks. Myocardial perfusion scan is a noninvasive and sensitive method for evaluation of CAD and is suggested by many investigators in recent years. In this study, 64 patients wh...
متن کاملCalcium-supplemented University of Wisconsin solution in long-term myocardial preservation.
The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of the addition of calcium to University of Wisconsin solution in long-term myocardial perfusion. In a heterotopic heart transplantation model, performed in pigs, the donor heart was preserved for 24 hours by means of continuous perfusion in this solution, without (24hUW group) or with calcium, 2.4 mmol/L (24hUW+Ca). During this period, the ox...
متن کاملContinuous perfusion of donor hearts in the beating state extends preservation time and improves recovery of function.
OBJECTIVES Improving methods of donor heart preservation may permit prolonged storage and remote procurement of cardiac allografts. We hypothesized that continuous, sanguineous perfusion of the donor heart in the beating, working state may prolong myocardial preservation. METHODS We developed a portable perfusion apparatus for use in donor heart preservation. Contractile, metabolic, and vasom...
